Description

WE NO LONGER FEATURE THIS ACCOMMODATION ON QUIRKYACCOM.COM but there are many more amazing properties listed in our directory. Take a look!

In the heart of the tranquil Devonshire countryside you can discover this fully restored Norwegian railways luxury antique railway carriage that sleeps 4 near Hatherleigh, an ancient market town.

Resting on the track of a long closed line next to Hole Station (which hosts B&B;) the carriage is clad in teak and is deceptively large - it's a broad guage carriage! Hole Station comprises 50 acres of meadow and natural deciduous woodland, in which there is a small campsite. You won't be woken early by 'enthusiastic' children, the whole property is 18+ adults only - peace and quiet reigns.

Inside there is a comfortable sitting room, kitchen diner and 2 bedrooms, each with their own en-suite shower room. One bedroom has a double bed and the other 2 singles, so is suitable for up to 4 adults. There is full wifi available and even a PC with Netflix. Outside you can relax on the platform and keep warm around the fire bowl, and cook up a bbq treat using the tripod grill whilst admiring the beauty of the wild flower meadow and natural deciduous woodland - keep your eyes out for wildlife!

Locally you can enjoy a stroll to the nearby pub for a spot of lunch and traditional ales. Dartmoor National Park is only a short drive away and here you can explore the rugged beauty of the area. Alternatively head to the coast at Bude and try your hand at a number of water sports, walk the coast path, or simply enjoy a traditional Cream Tea! The line upon which Hole Station sits has largely been converted into a traffic free cycle path called the Tarka Trail, you can hire bicycles to explore it.

No children or pets. 2 night minimum stay.

From £100 - £200 per night (for up to 4 adults).
