This lighthouse is located on Clare Island in Ireland and dates back to 1806. It offers 6 individually designed en-suite rooms. The original stone walls, period paintings and furniture, and the stunning views over Achill and Westport create a truly special atmosphere.
Clare Island is situated just 3 miles from Roonagh pier on the Mayo mainland where there is a daily ferry service to the main harbour on the island. There are many activities to enjoy on the island such as walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, marine activities, wellness pursuits and arts and crafts. The island also has a beautiful beach and plenty of walking and cycling trails. Bike hire is available.
Every room and suite at the lighthouse has an en-suite, underfloor heating, WiFi, iPod docking station, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. In the main house are the communal areas: the drawing room, the dining room/library and the kitchen.
The Tower House is a suite that features spectacular sea views, a circular double bedroom reached up a winding staircase, bathroom and living room with double sofa bed.
Achill View and Jackie O'Grady are 2 delightful and cosy double rooms with period furniture and log burners.
Cliff Corner is a detached cottage-like building with stunning views, a private terrace, original features and beautiful art work by María Carbonera.
The Sauna Suite is truly something special. It is a detached building within the grounds and is the largest of the guestrooms. It has been converted into a luxurious suite with sauna, cross trainer, private patio and superb views.
Last but not least is Banshee Cottage with a large single or small double bed, an art deco living room and luxurious bathroom.
The lighthouse is open from mid March until the end of October. Smoking is not permitted. Dog / dogs are welcome for a 25€ charge. Children under 16 cannot be accommodated unless they are part of a group booking the entire lighthouse.
The following prices include breakfast, a 6 course evening meal, welcome refreshments and transfers to and from the ferry terminal. Jackie O'Grady is priced at 350€ a night. Cliff Corner is priced at 390€ a night. Banshee Cottage costs 450€ per night. Achill View, Sauna Suite and Tower House are all priced at 490€ per night.
Minimum 2 night stays on the weekend. Closed in winter.
