This was to be one of the highlights to our recent trip to India - a stay in a treehouse in the tranquil hills of Wayanad.
What an utterly expensive disappointment. The quality of service was terrible and the standards were awful. Moreover, parts of the 'honeymoon package' we'd chosen never materialised. No welcome drinks, no surprise 'gift', the guided trekking to the waterfalls was a 30 second stroll to the bottom of the garden. Whilst the website offers activities in the local area, when we asked about these we were met with blank stares. There is nothing to do within walking distance of the resort. The manager was the only one there to speak English, but was rarely seen, and was completely uninterested in us and our stay. The resort was dirty, there was litter was everywhere. The treehouse itself was novel, but very basic, more of a beach hut in a tree. There was no hot water, so on the first day we had to ask to use a bathroom of the main building. We asked for bucket hot water for the second day, it never arrived. No mosquito net was provided to keep away the bugs at night. The bed sheets were stained. Overall, it was very uncomfortable. The tree house felt unfinished, it needed a lot of improvement to justify the outrageous cost per night. The management claimed other tree houses nearby were lower, and more expensive, I imagine the quality and standard are superior. We stayed in 5* star resorts that cost less than this and provided far far more comfort. If Green Magic are insisting on selling this place as an eco-resort and not a luxury resort, they need to drop the price to match. I know staying in a treehouse is a novelty, but this novelty is not worth your time. Do not waste your money at Green Magic, go elsewhere for a better experience. | |||
