Happy Days Retro Vacations is the ultimate in kitsch camping. Vintage Airstreams are set on a small garden site, surrounded by Suffolk farmland near Saxmundham, close to Southwold, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness.
All the caravans are retro. They have been sympathetically updated to make them cosy and welcoming but also keeping as much of their original features as possible.
The trailers are available for hire even outside of the summer season. They are well insulated, have heaters and extra blankets to make sure you are warm inside. Each van is kitted out with kitchen equipment and radios and outside table and chairs. There are also small TVs that are purely for watching DVDs on, there is a DVD library and a selection of board games in the site Reception. Each trailer has a fire pit and wood can be purchased on site.
Each Airstream has toilet facilities on board but there are also campsite facilities and showers for your use.
Dee Dee, Gloria, Betsy, Peggy, Annie, Nettie and Elsie welcome you. They range from 1959-1973 models and sleep from 2-5 people.
Dogs can stay in Betsy and Nettie only.
The site has a huge garden with a kids play area that includes a giant trampoline, a 1950s Army truck and a fairy garden.
Prices are from £140-£180 to rent Elsie the British 2 berth caravan for a weekend and £220 to £295 for a 2-night weekend stay in an Airstream outside of the holidays, and £280-£690 for full week stays starting on Friday or Mondays. It is also possible to book mid-week breaks. The site is available for exclusive hire outside of peak times. Bedding is not included in the price and can be hired separately or visitors are welcome to bring their own.
