Lower Buckton's Millstream Camp is situated on the borders of North Herefordshire and South Shropshire where England meets Wales. There is a romantic shepherd's hut for 2 which has its own private site beside the millstream next to paddocks filled with charming horses.
The pretty hamlet of Buckton is peaceful and tranquil with stunning views for miles. The surrounding area is perfect for long walks, cycles and even horse rides. You can even bring your horse and ride away across the hills and valleys - there is space for it to graze next to the camp.
The hut has a wood-burning stove, a 5 foot wide x 6 foot long double bed with sheep's wool quilts, vintage throws, oak floor and a stable door opening out across the fields. Outside there's a native American-style tipi for day-living, a covered field kitchen with bbq plus all the pots and pans and a open fire pit with Kotlich cooking pot.
The property was designed to have only a small impact on the environment by using a composting eco loo, which is completely non-smelly. There is also a undercover gas-powered shower that is perfect! The piece de resistance is the wood-fired, cast-iron bathtub for under-the-stars bathing surrounded by candlelight with glass of wine in hand!
On hot days the owners can flood the millstream for wild-swimming alternatively walk along the river bank to the local village and take a dip in one of the pools along the way!
Please bring your own towels. Dogs welcome by arrangement.
There is also a bed and breakfast at this site with a number of colourful double bedrooms to stay in. The accommodation is self catering however some meals are served here as well as occasional teas and cakes.
The Shepherd's Hut is £100 a night with a minimum 2 night stay.
