Beaver’s Lodge Safari Tent

As the name suggests, Beaver’s Lodge shares its magical setting with a wealth of wonderful wildlife, including foxes, deer, badgers, otters and, of course, wild beavers that live secretly by the river bank – an amazing sight to behold! The gorgeous meadow, shared with a shepherd’s hut (both are set at right angles for privacy), in turn leads to a further 60 acres of farmland that you are welcome to explore. Wander through a little copse and over a little bridge to the wildlife lake, discover the enclosed play area with picnic table and swing chair or relax by a curve of the River Otter, where nature has created an ‘island’. You can even carry on through the fields to pick up the ancient travellers’ paths to Ottery St Mary (a 30-minute stroll) or further to the traditional village of Tipton St John.

The tent itself sleeps 4 (plus baby) and boasts glorious views and all the home comforts you could need for a comfortable glamping holiday, from hot and cold running water, comfortable beds and a fully-fitted kitchen to a log-fired range (which will keep you warm and cosy and doubles as the cooker) and shower-room with hot shower and proper flushing loo. A solar panel supplies limited power for the lighting in the living-room and shower-room (you can charge a phone too), and there is a grill camping gas stove on the covered deck for cooking al fresco, as well as a fire-pit BBQ for marshmallow toasting. The wood-fired hot tub and sun loungers are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the great outdoors.

If you can bear to tear yourselves away, there’s plenty to see and do nearby. The infamous World Heritage Jurassic Coast is within easy reach, as is magical Budleigh Salterton and Woodbury Common with its Iron Age fort, and the historic town of Ottery St Mary is a 30 minute stroll away.

There is a minimum 3 night stay with availability from 20th March - 30th October. Price per night ranges from £57-£243. Children welcome but no pets.
