Montenegro

Check Availability

Camp Full Monte offers a unique camping experience. This wonderful campsite is situated in four hectares of stunning natural beauty, typical of the countryside of Montenegro. Luxuriously equipped large tents are ready for guests and sleep up to 4 people on sprung mattresses with all bedding and towels provided.

Located just across the border with Croatia it is approximately 30 minutes drive from Dubrovnik airport. The nearest old town of Herceg Novi is just 20 minutes drive away. The breathtakingly beautiful Boka Bay and nearest naturist beach is only 15 minutes drive.

For a few weeks in Summer, during the hottest time, the site is clothes optional and you can wander naked, or clothed, through terraced meadows and oak woodlands, and take in the peace, tranquility and nearness to nature.

What makes camping at Camp Full Monte so different? Well, to start with it is an eco-friendly campsite. It is situated on beautiful land, not connected to mains power or water.

A solar water heating system provides a virtually limitless supply of free hot water so there's always plenty to shower off the sun cream or wash the dishes. Other modern ecologically friendly facilities include composting toilets, waterless urinals, and an ingenious irrigation system that ensures all the waste water from the site is re-used to water the grounds. The toilet block has been been described on tripadvisor.com as 'almost as good as a 5 star hotel' and 'the best loos ever', a very important factor in camping! A wild camping experience without the normal discomforts and inconveniences.

Food, and more specifically the eating of it, is an important part of life in Montenegro. This is certainly the case at Camp Full Monte. For those that want to cook for themselves the facilities include everything you need to prepare meals including a barbeque, gas hob and oven, and fridge.

However, why not pamper yourselves and let your English hosts, Steve and Denise, cook their "dish of the day" for you! This is home cooked food at its best with ingredients fresh from their organic garden or locally sourced. You can even go and pick your own vegetables. The menu will depend upon the season and is cooked in a variety of local and international styles. They cater for vegetarians and vegans.

The evening meal facilitates a community atmosphere with guests gathering round one large dining table. Conversation, wine, beer and the local grappa can all flow through to the early hours. When it is safe to light one, evenings will often end around the campfire. Cost €9 and you can add from a selection of beer, wine and local grappa. Breakfast can also be provided for €5.

There is plenty of opportunity to socialise with other guests at other times of the day too and there is an extensive collection of unusual ball & board games. Alternatively, choose a book from their library and relax in a hammock.

Camp Full Monte hire tents come equipped with everything you need for a good nights sleep. Mattresses are made up for you with pillows, sheets and duvets & towels are provided.

The Snug sleeps 1-2 at €20 per person per night and The Lodge sleeps 2-4 at €25 per person per night with a 3 night minimum stay. For maximum comfort select The Mansion (a large tent that sleeps 4-6) with prices starting from €280 per person for 7 nights and €550 for 14 nights. There is a 7 night minimum stay. If you have your own tent the price is €12 per person.

Please note that vehicles are not permitted on-site so camper vans and caravans cannot be accommodated however there is ample roadside parking for cars adjacent to the site.

As a complete change, maybe you would like to volunteer your energy and skills to help Steve and Denise develop their eco project. They run working holidays throughout the year, where they provide a tent pitch and keep you fed and watered in return for your help on specific projects.

Whatever your reason for visiting, Camp Full Monte is an ideal place to be natural in nature and enjoy a holiday that literally won't cost the earth. Transfers from the airport can be arranged for €35 each way.

Reviews:
Much more than your average campsite!

I have been returning every year for six years to this wonderful camp site. Situated in the peaceful foothills of the mountain on the border with Croatia it is a great introduction to Montenegro not least because Den and Steve are great sources of information for the rest of your trip around Montenegro. They and Daisy, the dog are super- friendly hosts and their flower filled garden is the place to relax and recharge. Den cooks some of the most delicious food in the Balkans and as much as possible is organically grown in their garden and otherwise ethically sourced. The camp site is ecologically biased with compost toilets and solar power for heated showers and water and lighting. These facilities are the cleanest I´ve found in any camp site. This is a beautiful camp and accommodates backpackers and those with their own transport and tents although good tents of various sizes with comfortable mattresses and pillows and bed linen can be provided. Den and Steve are interesting and attentive hosts but the camp is full of leafy corners quiet spots and comfy sofas and mattresses on shady platforms and hammocks if you want a quiet read or snooze. But if you want to socialize this place always seems to attract a bunch of interesting travellers from all over. So whether you visit as a perfect introduction or end to your Montenegro travels or as I do use it as a base to travel all over the country please don't miss this experience.
A unique experience

This was my third visit to Monte, my first in 3 years.

It's difficult to know where to start. So I won't mention the clamping style tents, with a mattress and duvet. The shower and toilet facilities are second to none, so I won't mention them either. The campsite is in the middle of nowhere and is no quiet and chilled, so I had better not mention that. Meals are taken as a group, Den cooks two options (meat and veggie) each evening, never the same dish twice and very healthy. Again, i won't mention. Also pointless mentioning the convivial atmosphere around meal time.

What I will mention though is how the two hosts, Steve & Den and the numerous volunteers make the experience one that is second to none. I shall not be leaving it another 3 years before returning.
Another Fantastic Visit

Montenegro is a place of beauty and well worth visiting. Camp Full Monte is a place to chill and relax, many guests I met while at the campsite use it as a base to visit other places. CFM is a magical place and its very easy to get hooked on the tranquil location up in the hills. many guests extended their stay on my visits in 2015 and 2016.

Eating at the communal table is great and meeting all the different nationalities that visit the campsite. Denise is a fantastic cook, on my 18 day stay I never ate the same meal twice, everyone of my meals was just fantastic and the garden supplies most of the veg. Steve can fire out a mean barbecue. The local beer & wine is very good which can be purchased on site.

Overall both my stays were great, Steve and Denise really do look after you and are happy to give you lifts into town or pick you up at the border. A bus service is available to and from Herceg Novi to the campsite or about 200 yards away. (It is a limited service though, but very cheap).

If you love nature and looking at the stars, eating/drinking/chatting with many different guests and the hosts, playing games or just reading a book on a nice sofa or you just want to chill out and relax. CFM is certainly the place to go.

My fifth (or sixth!) visit to this wonderful place. It would be difficult to find a more beautiful and relaxing spot -anywhere. Lovely location and extremely warm and caring hosts in Steve and Denis (and Daisy the dog who always seems to remember me). Perfect 'glamping' with comfy mattress and bedding -superb home prepared meals using local and home-grown produce. Nowhere better to chill out for a week or more in my view and totally unwind in a hammock or the lovely grounds. And the other guests have always been interesting, friendly and great to get to know.
