A truly unique property. Situated in the heart of the old town of Edinburgh only 200 metres from the world-famous Edinburgh Castle is a historic apartment "The Castle Snug". Once the home of the writer James Boswell, it was in this very property that he played host to Dr Samuel Johnson in the weeks leading up to the departure upon their famous "Journey to the Western Islands of Scotland" back in 1773. Only a few paces off the Royal Mile the apartment is located down a traditional "close" within the 400-year-old James' Court. The accommodation which is located on the ground level is accessed via its own private entrance and consists of open plan living/sleeping area with a luxurious Queen size bed which pulls out of the stunning library style bookcase, a second Queen size bed is situated on the mezzanine level and features a wonderful wrought iron balustrade, stained glass window and hanging tapestry. The main living area features original exposed stone walls and cedar ceiling and is sumptuously furnished with oxblood leather chesterfield seating and footstools alongside a Jotul cast iron stove, there is a small dining area seating four, overlooking the courtyard.

Should you choose to dine "at home", the kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob extractor hood, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/ dryer, microwave, waste disposal, toaster, kettle and a good range of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc. Additional facilities include cable TV, DVD, CD/Radio, high-speed broadband Internet connection, iron, ironing table, hairdryer and a travel cot is available on request.

The fully tiled bathroom consists of a 3 piece suite (full-size bath) with tiled floor, chrome towel shelf, mirrored cabinet, stained glass roof panel and a Mira Sport 10.8 kW instant shower.
