Copperas Shepherd’s Hut

Near Ilfracombe, Devon, England

With spectacular sea views, this stylish and comfortable retreat is set between the seaside village of Combe Martin and town of Ilfracombe.

Wow, wow, wow, the spectacular sea views from charming Copperas really are second to none, out over the miles of ever-changing ocean and dramatic cliffs of the north Devon coast. Copperas itself is pretty special too, sat in its own enclosed spot on a historic farmstead, beautifully and stylishly fitted out with all you could need for a comfortable stay for 2 people.

Inside, there’s a sumptuous double bed that coverts with ease into the dining-area (lazy mornings and leisurely lunches gazing at the view are a must!), an en suite shower-room with hot water, proper flushing loo and heated towel rail and a well-equipped kitchen area (with a 2 ring induction hob, fridge, toaster and kettle). There’s even WiFi, so you can keep in touch with the outside world if you want or need to. Outside, you can toast marshmallows on the fire-pit or dine al fresco at the picnic table until your heart’s content.

Copperas’ sister shepherd’s hut is also on-site, and the owners run a small campsite and holiday cottage too, but all are unobtrusive from one another and have their own private areas. The nearby village of Berrynarbor has a wonderful community run-shop and a great pub and you can take boat trips from Ilfracombe to the wildlife sanctuary of Lundy Island or along the north Devon coast. Rugged Exmoor is within easy reach too, as are the sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands.

There is a 2 nights minimum stay from September to Easter and a 3 nights minimum stay at all other times. Price per night ranges from £56-£174. No children aged from 1-9 years old. No pets.
