Description

El Cosmico is a unique way of experiencing the Texan desert. Set in 21 acres of land in the high plains desert, 4800ft up, el Cosmico offers a range of different accommodations, including vintage trailers, safari & scout tents, Sioux-style tepees, a Mongolian yurt and tent pitches. There are also activities such as Camp design, "movie mondays" and adventure workshops.

Marfa, is the nearest town to El Cosmico and is a sleepy town of only 2121 inhabitants, but is a great place to explore with plenty of restaurants and bars for when you need a break from the rural lifestyle of El Cosmico.

On the hotels plot of land it offers fully furbished Trailers, all individually decorated with vibrant colours and their own private bathroom. They sleep up to 4 people and have their own private porch for guests to gaze at the stars.

Also available are the hotel's yurt, which is 22ft in diametre with wooden floors and a queen size bed. Also 22ft in diametre are the Tepees available to guests. These have a more basic interior but maintain the comfort of the yurt. Linens and towels are provided for use at the nearby bath house.

A smaller choice of accommodation are the tents, which come with a queen size bed and simple lighting. The hotel also offers a campground for guests, meaning that the hotel provides the land and you must provide your own shelter, but you will have full access to all communal areas and bathrooms.

Finally in Marfa, El Cosmico's Annex is the Brite Building which is an individually decorated apartment sleeping up to 10 people, with a fully equipped kitchen. Only the trailers and the Brite Building are ensuite, the rest of accommodations have access to the communal, onsite bathrooms.

El Cosmico offers a 4 day workshop exploring different building techniques whilst working with your environment. Another workshop available, for more indoorsy guests is a a botanical beverage workshop. On site there is a woodburning hot tub, which the owners light on request.

Evening temperatures from November to March may drop to below freezing and the outdoor bathhouse may freeze. Please keep this in mind when making a reservation.

There is a minimum 2 night stay for the Brite building.

Dogs are welcome for a 10$ fee. Wood-fired Dutch hot tubs cost is $85 per tub, reservations required.
