Gabriel the Shepherd's Hut

Peaceful, eco friendly camping retreat on the edges of Somerset and Dorset offers a handmade shepherd's hut for a couple, or add one child, with views over the rolling countryside near Bruton. If looking for a quiet getaway, this is perfect for you.

Built on a local farm with an interior designed and handcrafted by the owners this hut has a lovely welcoming feel to it. Inside there is a double bed (accessed by a couple of steps) and a single bed underneath which slides out for 1 child. There are simple kitchen facilities including a small belfast sink, (with water to be brought in from a private stand pipe) plus a double gas hob and storage facilities. Solar powered USB chargers and lighting is provided. Two comfy rocking chairs inside the hut offer the perfect place to chill out after a long day with a good book and your favourite cuppa. Gabriel now has a retro wood burning stove, you can request the use of this and wood/kindling will be supplied with instructions for use and safety.

Outside you can enjoy dining at the picnic bench or simply warm yourself around the fire pit, taking in the beautiful starry night sky. Gabriel has its own private composting toilet and showers are available on site.

Located in a rural area, close to the Cranborne Chase area of Natural Beauty, you can enjoy a trip to King Alfred's Tower, where you can take in 360º views over 3 counties or visit the Pantheon which is set within Stourhead Gardens and stunning lake surroundings.
