Hi, I'm Jess, CEO and founder of QuirkyAccom. After a drought in travel and quirky stays this winter, I was finally set for a UK mini jaunt and the Merry Harriers Shepherds Huts were my first stop.

We approached through country lanes in a downpour - overhanging trees from either side dropping thuds of water on the windscreen, drowning the "summer" day. But it kindly stopped as we pulled up at the Merry Harriers and the sun broke through as we settled in for our shepherd's hut stay and revealed the pond surrounded by lush greenery as our view.

I was surprised at how large the hut was. No side stepping around each other required. There was a comfy double bed, TV, fridge with an inviting bottle of wine and choccies, special teas and other thoughtful extras. A proper full-sized shower room too. There were just the 2 of us but there is just enough room for a z-bed for a child if required. 

We could have lit a fire inside or out, but the pub was calling. A footie match to watch over dinner with a local friend. What a treat to have great food and friendly service - plus ales, and special gins - just over the road. Just a hop and skip to get home! This would be a great place to come with friends in neighbouring huts.

 Breakfast was a generous and tasty offering included in the price. After this I recommend a llama trek with picnic or choose a country walk in the area. If you want to combine it with a day out in town then Guildford is just 20 minutes away.
