Herding Hill Farm

Award-winning, 5-star dog-friendly campsite with stunning views and wide open countryside on the doorstep. This makes Herding Hill Farm Camping & Glamping Site a pretty special place to visit. Cawfields Quarry on Hadrian's Wall is a 15-minute walk away and other attractions in Northumberland can be reached within a scenic hours drive. The site is operated as a low noise site and is not suitable for large or single-sex groups.

Wooden camping cabins, known as Wigwams, offer a warm and cosy glamping experience whatever the weather. Each are equipped with thick foam mattresses, electricity for light, heating and appliances. There is a fridge, microwave, heater, toaster and kettle. Bring your own bedding and towels or these can normally be hired (not currently on account of Covid). They sleep up to 5 adults, are double glazed with blackout blinds and lockable. Some have outdoor hot tubs for a small extra fee, perfect for star gazing. There are 3 styles of wigwam: Running Water (with toilet and small hand basin), Big Chief and Wee Brave. The majority of the accomodation is dog-friendy (except the lodge) but there is a "no dogs" Wigwam for those with allergies.

Also available on the site are spacious grass camping pitches with electric for tents and serviced hardstanding pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans.New for 2020 from Herding Campers are two stylish newly converted VW T6 campervans for hire for those who want to travel further afield.

There is also a 3-bedroom self-catering luxury lodge which sleeps up to 4 adults / 2 children (minimum 3-night stay). This has a deck with private outdoor hot tub and small private garden.

There is a luxurious on-site amenities block, which houses a shower suite (with underfloor heating) copious amounts of hot water, baths in the ladies toilets, a family/accessible bathroom with bath and shower, an 8 unisex person sauna (currently closed due to Covid), drying room, laundry room and dishwashing area.

A BBQ Hut, which accommodates up to 20 guests, can be hired (currently closed due to Covid social distancing restrictions).

Homemade pizzas can be delivered direct to your pitch. Available most Saturday evenings (between Good Friday and late October) and Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings during high season. Please note they are not offering pizzas in 2020. There is also a small shop which is licensed with a good range of local beers and sells other essentials.

A large and safe children's play area is a great attraction for younger members of the family, as is the petting farm with alpacas, goats, donkey, Shetland pony, Kunekune pig, guinea pigs, rabbits and hens.

Nearby there is a host of activities for the kids, from Walby Farm Park to Go Ape in nearby Matfen to watersport activities t at Kielder to a variety of wonderful walks, biking trails and even fishing. There are local shops nearby and Carlisle and Newcastle are less than a 45-minute drive.

The Wigwam cabins are £44 - £135 per night for 2 adults, children are £8 per night, over 16yrs £20 per night. Dogs £8 per night. Hot tubs available at a cost of £35 per night.

2-night minimum stay / 3 nights over a bank holiday weekend.

The Luxury Holiday Lodge - Prices start at £420 for a 3 night weekend to £995 for 7 nights at a peak time for 2 adults. Arrival days Monday and Friday for 3/4/7 night stays. No dogs allowed inside the lodge. Additional guests priced as per the wigwam cabins.

Family-friendly groups welcome, but no single-sex stag or hen dos.
