The multi award-winning camp was set up by design couple Carolyn and Christian Van Outersterp who’d previously masterminded London’s stylish restaurant bar and discreet celebrity hang out CVO Firevault. Jollydays is the culmination of the Van Outersterps 15 year dream to combine a love of camping and chic hotels – it’s an extension of their simplified lifestyle – beautiful surroundings, great food and socialising around a roaring log fire. For the kids, it’s heaven on earth (even those addicted to their Playstations).

This is a unique British Camp with a lovely communal feel – a tea tent and campfire area at its heart and the camp appeals to families, couples and groups. The Van Outersterps can point you in the right direction for activities to do on site – from archery and bushcraft to Polo and champagne picnics.

Jollydays is ideally situated 10 miles from York city centre (less than 2 hours from Kings Cross), close to the Yorkshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty and the Moors National Park. The stunning Heritage Coast is less than an hour’s drive and quaint market towns abound.

Five deluxe woodland tents, which sleep 6, have four-poster beds, hot shower, loo, fully equipped kitchen with fridge, wood burner, chandelier and funkily kitted out with “Mid Century” furniture and canopied outside eating area.

Eight luxury tented lodges, which sleep 6 have four-poster bed, hot shower, loo, fully equipped kitchen (cool box), wood burner all in a shabby chic style with painted furniture and vintage floral fabrics.

Woodcutter Huts can sleep 4.

All bedding is included, with a charge of £2 per towel. Tents are on a raised wooden base and have their own BBQs and picnic benches. Firewood, firelighters, kindling, tea lights and paraffin lanterns are included in the price for allocated time of your stay, making this camp exceptional value. There is a communal campfire and a range of tripods and pots to borrow. The honesty tea tent, full of homemade goodies, is open all hours. Communal clay ovens may also be used.

Jollydays offers the Woodland Kitchen and Bar. This rustic, stylish area offers you a simple tea or coffee, food or try local bottled beers, wines or even a woodland cocktail! Open Wed-Sun 12-4pm. Another food option is to pre-order a delivery from a supermarket that will deliver to Jollydays.

Bike hire is available. 10% of net profits are given to educational and environmental causes. Minimal electricity is used (only 10kw) and they have their own reed bed and biodigester on site. Jollydays is a holder of the gold award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

Tariff from £395 per Woodland Tent - 2 nights midweek. Weekly stays from £795 depending on which accommodation and time of year.

Tariff from £295 per Woodcutter Huts - 2 night midweek. Weekly stays from £550 depending on which accommodation and time of year.

2-night minimum stay. Weekly stays from Monday or Friday. 3 night weekends during the school holidays and bank holidays. There are alloted times for families only and couples only stays!

Jollydays sister site North Star Club is open all year round and can also be found on QuirkyAccom. Guests staying at Jollydays or North Star Club for 2 or more nights can enjoy free access to the Northwood Trail during their stay.
