Tucked away in a warm and green corner of paradise is the famous Elephant Villa plus Tree Luxuria, Jungle cabin and Boat house. Unique accommodation in a natural setting. Warm up your senses for a discovery that will surely make you head to Kumbuk River – the eco extraordinaire.

Welcome to the world’s biggest elephant, the eco-lodge extraordinaire in the shape of a giant elephant. It has 2 large bedrooms and lounge area and other living spaces that promote togetherness for a group or family. There is electricity - although minimal lighting - and a bathroom with hot water and 2 toilets. Sleeps a maximum of 10 guests.

Time stands still in this exclusive eco enclave bordering the Kumbukkan Oya, a river that never runs dry. Situated 250kms from Colombo, in the gem-rich Okkampitiya. Nestled on 14 acres of natural bliss on the edge of a sleepy farming village.

Priced at US$140 for 2 with $60 per each additional person - all based on full board.

Tree Luxuria is spectacular, built encompassing 2 trees and with the largest bed in Sri Lanka. The cabin is air-conditioned and the shower cubicle has hot water jets.

The treehouse sleeps a maximum of 4. On full board the cost is US$180 for 2 and $60 per additional person.

The vintage Morris BMC is a converted truck by the river named Jungle Cabin. It is a compact, air-conditioned, cosy cabin for 4 with panoramic river view. Costs $160 for 2 and $60 for every additional guest.

Kumbuk Chalet is a eco experience made from mud and thatch and a courtyard with tree shower. There is no electricity and solar lamps are used. Sleeps maximum of 4 - currently not available.

The floating Boat House is in the shape of a warmly coloured elephant and is perfect for honeymooners as well as families. Sleeps 2 guests max. The cost is $120 for 2 guests.

By visiting Kumbuk River Resort you can explore the riverfront and miniature island and trek to the other side of the property which is Yala, Sri Lanka's most famous wildlife sanctuary. You may spot an elephant or peacock, or other animals on a night drive. Alternatively relax in the herbal plunge pool.

Conforming to the eco-concept, in building the resort they have endeavoured to use material and resources found in the area without disturbing the habitat.
