Farmland surrounded by open fields and an abundance of wildlife is home to Ling's Meadow glamping and campsite in the depths of East Anglia. There are also chickens, young male alpacas and deer, hares, woodpeckers, a resident barn owl and birds of prey are spotted regularly. A unique opportunity is taking the alpacas for a walk!
There is a variety of accommodations to choose from:
2 x 5m Bell Tents - these are comfortable with plenty of space and light and each with their own area in the meadow with awnings, outdoor seating, a fire pit and campfire tripod and grill. Each tent can sleep up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children. 1 double bed with duvet and pillows, two single futon bed, extra blankets, homemade bunting, storage, fairy light chandelier, logs, firelighters, cooking utensils, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery, dishes, cool box, water carrier and storage box for food is provided. Remember to bring your own sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and towels. An extra blow up bed or travel cot can be provided.The bell tents prices start from £175 for a minimum 2 night stay in low season, £390 for the week and in high season this rises to £265 for a minimum 3 night stay and £495 for the week.
Ranny The Shepherd's Hut has been recently restored and includes a pull out double bed, a fold down table and seating and it's own wood burning stove for warmth and make a cuppa. Duvets and pillows are provided but bring your own sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and towels. There is also a solar powered wall light, a solar panel which provides power for two USB points, fairy lights and lanterns are provided too. Relax in the sheltered outside seating area and enjoy roasting a marshmallow or two on the fire pit, or throw some sausages on the hot plate! Windhover the four person living van is a unique wooden structure hand made by a local carpenter/eco builder. There is a raised double bed and underneath a double bunk that would sleep 2 adults and 2 children comfortably (a very small third child can be added too). A drop down table with seating, storage cabinet, shelving, wood burning stove and flat hob surface for boiling the kettle complete the interior. Windover is lit using solar power and there is also fairy lights and a lantern. A solar panel provides power for 2 USB points. Duvets and pillows are provided but bring your own sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and towels. Outside there is a covered seating area and fire pit. Ranny and Windhover are to be booked together and cost from £200 for 2 nights and £420 for a weeks stay during low season. During high season there is a 3 night minimum stay costing £295 with a weeks stay costing £545.
The Star Dome is a cross between a yurt and geodesic dome and sleeps 6 on one double bed, one bunk bed and 2 single futons. It has its own private outdoor seating area with fire pit, camp-fire tripod and grill. A wood fired stove keeps it warm and cosy inside and being eco-friendly it is lit with a solar powered chandelier and bedside lights. This property costs £200 for a minimum 2 night stay and £420 for a weeks stay in low season and in high season there is a 3 night minimum stay costing £295 whilst a weeks stay costs £545.
There is also the option of renting bed linen and towels for a small extra charge.
Six tent pitches within the meadow and an empty bell tent are also available to hire. The Bell tent costs £17 per night initially plus the price per person, £9 for an adult and £4.50 per child, per night.
The facilities on this glamping site are communal with compost loos, showers and a bike shed - all are designed to be eco friendly. The site is vehicle free but trolleys are provided for moving luggage around. An onsite camp kitchen has a cooking area, benches and tables. There is also a covered washing up area with a butlers sink, draining board with washing up liquid and tea towels provided.
Ling's Meadow is just 12 miles from Bury St Edmonds and 33 miles from Norwich. The seaside towns of Southwold and Holkham are just over 1 hours drive away and more locally there are some beautiful areas to explore such as Knettishall Heath, Peddars Way Walk and the Fens.
The farm shop has a cafe that serves an excellent cooked breakfast as well as provisions. It offers an excellent service of food parcels to be delivered to your accommodation which include a BBQ parcel, a cooked breakfast parcel and light breakfast parcel. Also nearby are small local shops and some wonderful country pubs.
