Lloyd Hotel

With the upmarket Eastern Docklands at the front and the ultra-urban access point to the city centre at the back, Lloyd Hotel is situated in a freestanding monumental building dating from 1921 by architect Evert Breman. It opened after renovation in 2004.

It has an amazingly large and tranquil terrace on the South, a large restaurant, a bar, 117 hotel rooms ranging from one to five stars and fitted out by a plethora of Dutch artists and designers, four mezzanine platforms used for exhibitions, meetings and events.

There is free WIFI access throughout the building. Room service is available at all hours and for all 117 rooms. Bicycles can be hired via reception.

The hotel’s Cultural Embassy is specialised in arranging showings and presentations of Dutch culture and the culture of guests. These events take place throughout the building and can mostly be visited free of charge. Thus links are created between guests and art and artists in Amsterdam.

The hotel has a colourful history as a quayside hotel from which ships departed, a prison during the german occupation and afterwards, and then artist studios during the 1990s.
