Three gorgeous wooden bothies and a yurt with private hot tubs, great for families or a romantic getaway on the shores of Loch Ken.
Description
Retreat to the shores of Loch Ken and enjoy a tranquil stay for up to 8 people with a choice of four gorgeous off-grid eco cabins. All complete with wood fired hot tubs, stunning loch views and a complimentary kayak for exploring on the water.
Inside these four eco-friendly structures you can find solar powered electricity, a wood burner and bottled gas for the essential hot shower and oven, so you will be sure to stay warm and cosy even on the coldest of Scottish nights!
The Otter Eco Yurt offers a romantic retreat for 2 people with a secluded location, incredible views across the loch plus of course its own private hot tub! Simple and minimalistic in style yet with luxurious soft furnishings, you and your loved one can disconnect from the world here whilst reconnecting with each other.
The Red Squirrel Bothy and Red Kite Bothy are perfect for famillies and sleep up to 4 (at a squeeze) and 6 respectively. Children will love the feel of getting back to nature and spotting all sorts of wildlife from the private decking, including red deer, red kites, red squirrels and maybe even an otter or two! The Red Squirrel has a double bedroom with single sofa bed and a camping bed can be provided on request. Sit back and relax on the retro style sofa or enjoy dining at the solid oak dining table whilst taking in the surrounding views. The Red Kite is larger, with a double bedroom, twin bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living area. There is a large outside dining area, perfect for those warmer days when the sun shimmers on the surface of the loch.
The newest eco-bothy, the Osprey is a step above in terms of grandeur and scale. The building is still completely off-grid and has 3 double en-suite bedrooms downstairs. It's unique Dome shaped consruction allows a spiral staircase to reach up to a stunning mezzanine viewing patform where the Galloway Forest Dark Skies can be viewed across the loch.
There is no wifi in the properties, so remember to pack some board games, books and toys for the little ones, and yourself! Enjoy the feeling of putting down your mobile and living in the moment, taking in the fresh air, the views and the love of your family, although be sure to take lots of photos to remember the fun you had!
Locally you can visit the Galloway Activity Centre where an abudance of activities including laser tag, archery, sailing and windsurfing await you! If you prefer something a little less strenuous, then a trip to Cream o Galloway offers you a nature trail or a game of crazy golf plus delicious ice-cream made on site! Children will love the Go boing trampoline area and indoor play here too! Alternatively visit the National Trust Threave Garden where you can stroll through the grounds of a baronial mansion before enjoying a bite to eat at their cafe.
