Located on the grounds of the Waterloo Cottage Farm, a family-run farm in Great Oxendon, you can find a delightful yurt for 2 that offers the perfect glamping experience, in the wild but without having to give up on any modern comforts... There is even a carbon neutral wood-burning hot tub!
Puddleduck yurt is kept in a traditional design, but with all amenities. It is spacious and has picturesque views across the farm. Standing on a wooden platform it features a log burner, cosy king size bed and a roof window to watch the stars through. Decorated in a shabby chic style it has its own solar-powered hub to light the yurt and to charge electronic devices.
Outside Puddleduck yurt you can discover a private BBQ with tools and basic kitchenette. It has its own private bathroom with hot water and eco-friendly toilets too.
There is a shared kitchen (there are 2 larger yurts on site too) which is well-equipped, including a kettle, toaster, hob, pans, crockery and cutlery, fridge and microwave. Everything is prepared for self-catering, and there are also special extras such as local food and drink hampers, breakfast hampers and afternoon tea delivered to your yurt.
Most importantly, to make the stay perfect, guests have access to a wood-fired hot tub with view over the farm from where they can watch the stars at night. Logs for daily use are included in the stay.
The site is easily accessible, being just off the A508, a few miles away from the town of Market Harborough. The yurts are based on a working farm and guests have the opportunity to get to know the farm and to visit the vegetable garden, and the orchard. Regular events like food making courses and wine tastings are also held on site.
When leaving the farm, the area also offers great opportunities for walking, cycling (Brampton Valley Way can be accessed from here) and other leisure activities. There is an award-winning farm shop and also plenty of eating out opportunities, like a welcoming local pub. Further, visits to Foxton Locks, Kilworth House, Deene Park, Rockingham Castle and surrounding fishing lakes are easy from here. The lovely town of Market Harborough is only 2 miles away and larger cities like Northampton and Leicester, with shops, museums and theatres are also within easy reach (15 and 20 miles).
Puddleduck costs between £110 and £130 per night. There is a minimum stay of 2 nights on Fridays and a £50 refundable security deposit.
Single nights offered until the end of March on a Monday and Wednesday.
Dogs are allowed for an additional £5 per night.
A group of 14 can be accepted for hire of all 3 yurts on site, simply search QuirkyAccom for Country Bumpkin Yurts to find out more.
