Award-winning Rail Holiday at St Germans offers 4 quality accommodations options to create a delightful holiday in a picturesque Cornish village near the coast. In a separate location at the former goods yard at Hayle Station, there is converted train carriage with many original features, sleeping 2 to 14 (if taking East and West ends).

The Travelling Post Office sits beside the village station. It was featured in the BBC's Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo. It's a Victorian coach with Clerestory windows along the full length of the coach offering a special feeling of light and space, whilst retaining the cosiness of a wooden coach. This self-catering accommodation can sleep up to 6 people. There is a double bedroom, a bunk room with 2 bunks, a galley style kitchen with fridge, hob and microwave/conventional over etc and a shower room with a flushing toilet. The dining/lounge area has colour TV/DVD and hi-fi with seating converted into a double bed or 2 singles. There is an enclosed garden with seating and BBQ facilities.
The Old Luggage Van, for 2, is a journey into the past without leaving home comforts behind. It is located in an enclosed garden adjoining the station platform at St Germans. There is a double bedroom, lounge/dining area with TV/DVD and hi-fi, fireside chairs and woodburning stove, galley kitchen and shower and WC.
Mevy, the Victorian Slip Coach, is designed with families of up to 5 in mind and has several features unique to the coach, including a sumptuous first class bedroom compartment, a proper bath with ball and claw feet and a traditional cooker in the kitchen. The second bedroom has bespoke triple bunk beds, ample electric heating included, a garden area with seating and BBQ facilities. Mevy is not on a trackside location but instead looks out to the river and rolling hills beyond.
Millpool is the latest self-catering holiday carriage on offer. It is fully disabled accessible with a dedicated car parking space adjacent to the carriage with level, step-free access to the accommodation. It is also suitable for the able-bodied and retains much of its railway carriage charm. Sleeps 2, with double bedroom (or single adjustable bed) plus another single/sofabed in the lounge diner area and has a wet room with ample hot water. There is central heating and a galley kitchen, plus enclosed patio and garden area with BBQ facilities. All energy, linen, towels and water included in the price.
Harvey at Hayle is a 1950s compartment coach with many original features including compartments, lamp shades, luggage racks, mirrors, blinds and upholstery. It is great for families with a signal box playhouse, garden, swings and toys. The carriage is divided into 2 separate lets at the central cross corridor by lockable sliding doors. Outside of the summer holidays, the carriage will be let to one group at a time with a reduced rate for those only needing one end of it. The West end sleeps 6 and the East sleeps 8.
On site there is use of a children's play area, games room with air hockey table,washing machine, dryer and freezer plus unrestricted free broadband access. Guests also have access to 10 acres of woodland to explore! If coming with a little one, a cot and high chair can be used at no extra cost. Dogs can be accepted with prior arrangement at a cost of £15 each per stay, except in Mevy.
St German's is a small village with a population of 600. There is a great village pub, a community shop and Post Office. The Quay, with the viaduct towering above it and its sailing club, is a popular spot. The old part of the village, which includes the railway station, is virtually unspoilt and has been made a Conservation Area.
