Stargazy Sky Shepherd’s Hut

Near Axminster, Devon, England

Within walking distance of the infamous River Cottage HQ, Stargazy Sky offers peace, quiet and tranquillity (with lots to see and do nearby too!).

Nestled high above the Axe Valley and Jurassic Coast, just the name of this shepherd’s hut conjures up images of a romantic weekend getaway, snug under a blanket, toasting marshmallows on the fire-pit with the sparkling night sky above you. Sat in its very own meadow, with a copse of trees to one side, fields stretching downhill in front and even a tiny brook close by, Stargazy Sky is just an idyllic break for 2 people.

Inside, the open plan living space includes a warming wood-burner, comfortable double bed (with fully sprung mattress and top quality linen), en suite shower-room (with hot water and proper flushing loo), little dining area and well-equipped kitchen area (with 2 ring induction hob, combination oven, fridge, toaster and kettle). Outside, the patio area is the perfect place to relax al fresco, whether at the table and chairs or in the swing seat, and toast some marshmallows on the fire-pit.

You can head out on foot from Stargazy Sky – the farmland borders the terrific Trinity Hill nature reserve, and it’s just a short stroll to the infamous River Cottage HQ and 300 acre organic Trill Farm. Lovely Lyme Regis is just a short drive away, as is the pebbled beach at Seaton and the classic seaside towns of Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.
