If you are looking to retreat to the middle of nowhere then this off grid historic cottage is the perfect place for you. Located in the woodlands near Blythburgh, it sleeps up to 7 people and offers a hot tub, outdoor BBQ area, lots of character and forests to explore!
The Cottage dates back to the 1800 and still keeps its historical rustic nature and traditional roots. Guests will have the entire cottage and practically the area by themselves. Dog walkers and hikers may pass a few hundred yards from the cottage through the foot paths, but in essence you won't see any human or cars within half a mile.
On entering the cottage you come to a truly 1800's kitchen, with original flooring and with a small fridge where you can keep your drinks and food fresh. This leads into the living/dining room area where you can find unusual antique items including an old fashioned phone, which will intrigue the younger members of your group! On the second floor, there is a family bedroom with a sofa bed that converts into two single beds which leads onto the master bedroom with king size bed. A second bedroom consists of a bunk bed with a double bottom bunk.
Due to the nature of the construction of the cottage having been built during the 1800’s, there are no bathrooms within the cottage; however, a brand new outside bathroom has been built just across the cottage for guests to use. Kitchen & Bathroom water is heated by fire and not electricity nor gas.
The Cottage boasts an outdoor BBQ area with fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows on at the end of the day! Enjoy old fashioned camp-fire stories and songs with your loved ones. There is also a wood heated hot tub in the front of the cottage for your use. Please note that there is a charge of £25 to use this as an attendant will come and set it up for you.
The cottage runs on solar power, so please be aware that although it is possible to charge your phones, computers etc, that this offers you the ideal time to disconnect from the outside world for a while! There is a TV with a USB that holds 100 movies to enjoy, (no aerial), so you can still enjoy a movie in the evenings if needs be.
Locally you can enjoy a trip to Southwold Lighthouse, where you can climb the spiral staircase inside and take in the beautiful panoramic views from the top. Alternatively animal lovers will enjoy a visit to Africa Alive where you can experience a walking animal safari!
No wifi. Minimum 2 night stay with price per night from £149-£249. There is a 10% discount offered for weekly stays. The closest station is in Darsham which is approximately a 15 minutes drive away from the cottage. Pick up could be arranged if necessary.
