wizardchamber

I had a busy time at the beginning of this year zipping in and out of London whilst promoting the Tourism Superstar Awards for VisitEngland.  It was good to be recognised for spreading the word about QUIRKY getaways - our speciality in the UK - and our charity donations.

It seemed only fitting to check into the Georgian House Hotel and push past the bookcase / secret door to the Wizard Chambers at the end of a long day. I climbed into my 4 poster bed for a sound nights sleep amongst carved owl, heavy curtains and a pile of books.

My room oozed Harry Potterdom in all but name so a fan should not miss this 'stepping into his world' experience next time in town.

Not just cute farm animals and relaxation, Secret Valley is a vineyard as well. This really has to be the perfect holiday!

Set in the southernmost foothills of Somerset’s Quantock Hills area of outstanding natural beauty, Cobbs Cross Farm (Home of SecretValley) has been farmed by John Hardwick since 1973 and is now a family business with wife Jan and children Rob, Emma and Will. The farm has evolved greatly since then, turning organic in 2000 rearing Free Range Chickens as well as a Beef Suckler Herd, who can be seen enjoying their freedom in the lush green fields. In recent years the farm has gained some slightly more exotic residents, visitors can see the incredibly cute Miniature Donkeys and cheeky Alpacas roaming around their fields.

Here are a few of our favourites to tempt you....(click image for more info)

Sarah Willmott is the proud owner of Mill Farm Shepherds Hut close by the coast at Skipsea. She tells us here what inspired her to own one! To stay here click the named link to find out and more and Check Price.

A childhood of classic cars, vintage farm equipment and steam engines is how I came to own my own shepherds hut. Ever since I was small living on a farm we were surrounded by these things. Taken to see the large traction engines on a demonstration day ploughing or thrashing corn, usually tucked away in the corner was a shepherds hut or road wagon which as a child for me became a fort or a hide out.

Eventually I grew up... but always in the back of my mind was the memory of the shepherds hut sitting in the corner of the field. Then I found out about glamping and the realisation that I could have a shepherd’s hut of my very own, so long as I could persuade my parents to let me have some space on the campsite.

The Easter holidays will be upon us soon, and many of us haven't had a minute to organise a getaway yet (me included!). With Brexit dominating the tv and our thoughts, it is hard to focus on anything else. But with all the stress and uncertainty - we actually need a holiday more than ever.

But don't despair! I'm please to say I have managed to dig out some amazing stays that are still possible to book for this Easter. And there is no need to travel far to reach them!

We have great suggestions throughout the UK whether you are looking to escape as a couple or family and get some friends together. From regal to rugged - take a look and see if anything here takes your fancy.
