Winvian, a unique getaway set amidst 113 acres of nature and serenity, tucked away in the idyllic northwest corner of Connecticut ideal for hiking, biking and skiing and just over two hours from the bustle of New York City and Boston. It features 19 individually architecturally designed cottages all bursting with quirkiness, which complements the relaxing spa and creative restaurant.

There are many interesting cottages to choose from. There is a Treehouse cottage suspended amongst trees, the Maritime Cottage in the image of a lighthouse, and the Music Cottage which is a celebration of all things musical and Camping has a jacuzzi bath (hot tub) with a view and large windows with forest murals.

Perhaps the highlight is the Helicopter Cottage. Amenities do not get more thrilling than this: a 17,000 pound meticulously restored 1968 Sikorsky Sea King Pelican HH37 awaits your arrival in this cottage which resembles a hangar. Climb into the cockpit and enjoy a drink in the fuselage or cosy up by the wood burning stove.

There are many options for activities whilst staying at the hotel including mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, tennis, volleyball, snowshoes, fitness room, hiking, yoga and a games room and a croquet lawn. Additional activities in the area are guided excursions, fishing, hot air balloon, motor racing, shooting, private yoga, cooking classes and horse riding. Never a dull moment.

Prices start from $695 per cottage, per night, based on double occupancy and include: Chef tasting dinner for 2 and breakfast.
