Alde Garden is a tiny campsite in the heart of Suffolk with an eclectic range of rustic, quirky accommodation as well as a handful of small tent pitches. Just 2 hours from London by train, and only a 20min drive from Suffolk’s diverse coastline – Alde Garden makes the perfect spot for a holiday, retreat or short break.

Accommodation dotted around the garden includes yurts, bell tent, gypsy caravan, hideout plus ordinary tent pitches. Adjacent to the garden is Badger Cottage – a 4* self-catering holiday cottage, and The Sweffling White Horse – the owner's little pub, open 4 nights a week, offering real ale.

This site has won an Environmental award crowning them the most sustainable business in the Norfolk/Suffolk Tourism Awards.

Tucked away behind a perimeter of trees and hedges, the site has a range of communal facilities including a campfire, covered field kitchen, compost loo with handwash 'tippy tap', and jungle shower. Full of quirky benches, chairs, tables and archways, handmade from old wood, the rustic pathways take you through the trees, shrubs, flowers and wildlife areas and the garden is also home to many friendly ducks & chickens.

Despite the site’s strong focus on low impact living you’ll find an area tucked away with a fridge freezer, microwave & washing machine as well as a clean toilet block with ladies’ & gents’ showers and flushing toilets. Environmentally friendly holidays with a few home comforts!

The atmosphere in the garden is friendly and relaxed. Petite and compact, it is perfect for couples young and old, as well as small families, who wish to spend time amongst nature. It has been described by guests as “the perfect antidote to busy lives” and offers the opportunity to get away from it all and unwind.

There are 2 yurts of 16' diameter. The romantic Barn Owl Yurt with 4 poster bed, solar fairy lights, beautiful recycled woodburner & a wooden deck with outdoor chairs and table sleeps up to 4 and is named after a barn owl who can often be seen flying over a neighbouring field. Dragonfly Yurt can sleep a maximum of 5, with families in mind, is more robust and rustic with futons beds, recycled woodburner, large table with seating for 4, solar fairy lights and ornamental centrepiece with coloured glass.

The Bell Tent sleeps up to 5 and comes with rugs and double bed plus single futons. There is a seating area outside with BBQ and chiminea. A woodburning stove and solar fairy lights and tea light lanterns create a cosy atmosphere.

The Gypsy Caravan, a unique example of exceptional workmanship and beauty, restored using lots of recycled materials. Perfect for 2 using a comfortable slightly small double bed (6'x4'), with a bed underneath that could fit 2 small children, lit with solar and tea lights, and with a small woodburner. The adjacent old wooden donkey shed has been converted for extra living and cooking space including a traditional washstand, seating, cupboard space, a table and gas stove. There is also outdoor seating with a BBQ.

Almost a treehouse, but The Hideout is a cute little wooden structure in a small clearing amongst the trees and scrubs hidden from sight. Perfect for 2 (adults only) it has a double mattress (bring bedding or sleeping bags), 2 bedside tables and carpet. With vinyl records for roof tiles and blinds that used to be decked chairs this is a recycler's dream.

These accommodation options are available from 1 May to 2 October. No pets as ducks and chickens own the garden. Groups no larger than 6, please.

Minimum stay 2 nights from Monday or Friday.

Although children are welcome please ensure they are supervised to ensure others peaceful getaway, and also due to unfenced pond.
