Description

OPEN TO GUESTS FROM THE BEGINNING OF APRIL UNTIL LATE OCTOBER.

Beech Estate Campsite is an off-grid campsite with the option to pitch your own tent or stay in one of the site's pre-erected, fully-equipped bell tents for a "wild glamping" experience. Campfires are welcome at this beautiful woodland campsite and each tent pitch and bell tent comes with its own fire pit area.

The site is located in East Sussex near the historic town of Battle, within easy reach of London, Hastings and the South Coast. It is nestled on the edge of a 600-acre woodland within the 2,000-acre private Beech Estate; a classified Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The woodland offers limitless walks, forest rises perfect for mountain bike riding and areas for kids to make dens and run wild. Guests at the campsite have the exclusive use of the estate's woodlands, as there is no access for the general public.

Tent pitches are set apart in clearings in a beautiful woodland location. For campers wanting to feel very secluded, there are “faraway tent pitches”, set on top of a hill overlooking the Bracken Valley. These are very private, although there is a short additional walk to the toilets and shower.

The lovely Bell Tents are also set in forest clearings and, in addition to designated fire pits and grills, come with their own firewood allocation, beds, a picnic table, camping chairs and cooking utensils for the "wild glamping" experience - ideal for families or those who want a comfortable hassle-free option.

There are also a number of larger pitches for groups of families wanting to camp together for that special occasion or annual catch up.

As the site is off-grid, don't expect hair dryers, phone chargers, power points, butler service, silk sheets or hot tubs. "Wild glamping" is about a real camping experience made easy, with just about all the camping equipment you should need, set-up and waiting for you.

Adjacent to the campsite is the Estate's meadowland area of conservation, encompassing 110 acres of the largest and most important surviving tracts of interconnected ancient meadow in the South East. The Beech Estate woodlands and meadows support birds of prey such as hobby, buzzard, kestrel, sparrow hawks and barn owls. The meadows are full of orchids, ox-eye daisies, quaking grasses, bird's foot trefoil and knapweed. As it stands 34 different species of butterfly have been identified on Beech Estate (including clouded yellows and painted ladies) as well as a number of rare insects.

Also provided are unique eco toilets and the campsites famous outdoor bucket showers (hot water supplied). The campsite is off-grid with no electricity but has a mains water supply.

There are permanent wardens on site to assist the campers at all times and operate a small-scale quiet, relaxed and laid back campsite. No amplified music - there is a low noise policy from 10 pm in the evenings. The campsite is ideal for families and groups, to reconnect and renew friendships.

Single night stays possible but not including a Saturday night, then 2 night stay is required.
