I'm Jess, the founder of QuirkyAccom and a lover of adventure. Anything that gets me out of the house and closer to nature - and staying in unusual places is most definitely part of that.
My passion for travel is combined with my love of the great outdoors, hiking and visiting places off the beaten path. You don't need to get far from home to feel rejuvenated!
Mongolian Yurt Stay
Lots of animals on the loose, a spacious yurt and nature close at hand. Suitable for families or couples. We walked the Barranc del Infern from here - about 16 km with extreme ups and down - stunning but challenging.
Be well prepared with sunscreen, hat, water and walking boots - it's a good workout over 5-6 hours! Only for the fit - and not in summer. Or, make the most of the yurt and its surroundings - relax and look at the view instead!
La Forada
This friendly B&B has a luxury feel with 5 delightful bedrooms with your own woodburner, air-conditioning, balcony and bath with mountain views.
We walked from here up to La Forada - a hole in a large rock at the top which presents big views down the La Gallinera valley to the sea.
Actually I swim in that area year round - but that isn't for everyone! Visiting Spain in winter is well worth doing. The weather is not guaranteed of course, but when you get sunshine and can eat outside out of season, with less people around - there is nothing better.
