Day 5 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a stay in Proper Job in Cornwall.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
We approached our fairy lit cabin at dusk and settled in quickly, watching the day end through the large arched window looking out to sea.
Owners Emma and Rich made us feel very welcome as they showed us how the site has developed over the last couple of years since they joined us in summer 2020.
The Accommodation:
Proper Job has a double bed to one end, a well equipped shower room and a lovely living area with large picture window.
There is a comfy sofa for taking in the views (that converts to a sofa bed), and here I enjoyed using the space to do some pilates.
There is a compact kitchenette and a bench style dining area, that converts to yet another double bed!
The cabin has been well decorated and offers a homely feel and is warm and cosy thanks to heating, so ideal for a quirky getaway all year round.
Outside you can relax on your private decking, sit around the firepit, or cook up a storm on the supplied BBQ.
There are 7 cabins on site sleeping from 2 up to 6 guests and dogs are welcome in some cabins. The site is set on a gentle slope, so that all cabins have a view of the sea in the distance and is based near the seaside towns of Looe and Seaton - great for a jaunt to the beach.
Food and Drink:
The owners leave a welcome pack of coffee, tea bags and milk for you and we ordered a delicious breakfast hamper too. This included homemade bread, eggs from their own chickens, sausages and bacon and was delicious!
They also have cream tea hampers to order for those special occasions.
Locally a short drive away (or walk there and cab back) is The Copley Arms. This traditional and active pub offers great food and live music on weekends. We were lucky enough to see a fab guitar duo whilst visiting.
Why not head to the fishmongers at Looe where you can buy some freshly caught fish to pop on the BBQ - delicious!
Jess' top tip:
Take a visit to Seaton Beach for a stroll followed by a visit the highly recommended restaurant The Beach House.
Or visit the seaside town of Looe where you can walk over the historic bridge that joins the east and west side and visit the The Fish Market Restaurant for delicious freshly caught and innovative cuisine.
