Day 4 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to the four Dittisham Treehouses in Devon.

Find out more about their visit:

First Impression:

Well run site with woodland views and circuit pathway to explore. Treehouses are well spaced and beautiful. They are fully equipped like a cottage stay but with the charm of a treehouse.

Great to meet the owner Tamsin, who has worked hard on creating this beautiful and magical space, since opening in 2021.

The Accommodation:

There are 4 fabulous treehouses, all set separately with their own lovely views from spacious terraces. Choose Woodpecker Treehouse if you have mobility issues - no steps to manage to reach it or in it.

The interior has a cosy living space, everything of high quality. There is a wood burner and under floor heating so all year round stays would be very comfortable here. There is a full kitchen for cooking up a storm and even a washing machine if required.

The living space is open to the double bedroom with en-suite shower and there is also another separate loo.

Off to the other side of the treehouse is another bathroom and clever 3 bunk space for kids. These are best for kids up to 13 as limited space between each although extra head space for each. Children can feel they have their own section whilst being close to the main living space and their parents.

The deck area is fantastic with a large hammock, woodfired hot tub and outdoor seating.

There are wheelbarrows to help you get between car and treehouse.

Food and Drink:

Whilst here you can dine out at the Ferry Boat Inn in Dittisham, with its views out over the river and the boats.

Alternatively stay in - bring some supplies and enjoy the delicious hamper with bread, butter, biscuits and crisps, hot chocolate and bottle of wine, that the owners kindly leave for you.

Jess' top tip:

Follow the circuit walk around the estate in order to work up a hunger, then after lunch light the woodburning hot tub between playing games or reading a book in the hammock or in front of the fire.

By late afternoon it will be the perfect temperature for you to relax in and take in the starry night sky.

Be sure to go down to the riverside at Dittisham during your stay.
