Day 40 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a stay at Hideaway Heath Hallow in Essex, England.
Find out more about their stay:
First Impression:
I love the styling inside with wacky wallpaper, velvet sofas and contrasting cushions.
Emma - whom we have worked with since 2021 - has created a relaxing cave of curiosities and a wonderful place to spend time.
The Accommodation:
When you enter the village it all looks residential, but once you go through a gate to a private parking area all that fades away. You pass through another gate to your private entrance.
There is a lovely outdoor space with various seating options, lit up at night, so you can enjoy time in and around the hot tub and firepit. All this to the sound of the water feature and birds.
The accommodation itself is one large open plan room divided into a full kitchen and dining/living area and bedroom with beautiful copper bath. The bedroom leads to a lovely ensuite shower room.
This is one of those amazing properties, that the more you look, the more you see. I loved the cute little candles on the bath - what a way to relax!
Food and Drink:
Bring supplies with you for a self catering stay. There is an honesty bar in a trunk should you wish to pay for any extras but some thoughtful extras are left for your arrival - bubbly, port, milk, coffee and a range of teas plus hot chocolate and marshmallows.
If you can bear to tear yourselves away from this idyllic romantic hideaway then there are two local pubs within walking distance.
Jess' top tip:
We enjoyed a lovely woodland walk in the the Roman River Valley nature reserve close to the property.
The owner tells us that Colchester zoo is not far from this accommodation and you may hear the sound of a lion roar! So you may want to add in a visit there if you are an animal lover.
Alternatively the city of Colchester (once the Roman capital of England) is just a short taxi drive away.
Here you can visit Colchester Castle, take a stroll around Firstsite - a modern landmark with visual arts or relax at Green Island Gardens in their tearoom.
