Day 37 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to Kaleb the Combine in Lincolnshire, England.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
I love the passion that Will and the team have for converting former transport into quirky glamping experiences. We have seen great changes to their site whilst working with them since 2018.
Do not expect luxury, or ensuite facilities, but you will enjoy the efforts they have gone to keep the authentic feel of the vehicle and convert a living space within it.
For the adventurous! And I know my children would have been in heaven in any of their creations.
The Accommodation:
Located in Friskney, with its famous coastal neighbour Skegness, this property offers a great base for exploring this lovely part of the UK.
The combine is a unique place to stay and offers fun for a family or romance for two.
The combine sleeps 2 guests as does the grain trailer alongside. This also holds a kitchenette area with gas hob, kettle and fridge for simple cooking.
Both of the vehicles have a TV so no arguing over what you are going to watch! The bathroom facilities are just a short stroll away.
Food and Drink:
The kitchenette facilities allow you to knock up a simple meal. The Barley Mow is open for food and drinks a short drive or walk away for food and drink - from Thursday to Sunday.
As we were there early in the week we took a short drive to the The Bricklayer’s Arms in Old Leake for a tasty meal.
Jess' top tip:
A must do when here is a visit to Lincolnshire Wildlife Park a short drive away. What started as a parrot sanctuary has become a full blown wildlife experience with many tigers (previous pets who wouldn’t have been taken in by zoos) and other animals.
We were lucky enough to get a special access to the tigers but regardless, this is well worth visiting and supporting.
Skegness is well worth a visit but you can also get off the beaten track a bit by going to South Parade and Gibraltar Point - or Anderby Creek Beach and the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB both about 40 minutes away.
