Day 29 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a stay at Premier Skypod in the Scottish Highlands.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
A warm welcome from the owners Graham and Ros who showed us around and with whom we have worked since 2021.
They have gone to a great effort to make a pleasant getaway for guests.
The skypod is highest on the sloped plot giving the best views and sleeps 2 guests. Below are 2 larger but non themed pods - Lovat and Wyvis that sleep 4 guests.
The sauna and BBQ hut can be reserved.
The Accommodation:
Set just 12 miles from Inverness, but in a totally rural area, the pod has its own decked area with wooden screen and private hot tub.
When you enter through the double doors there is a compact living space with 2 airline seats with fold out tables from where you can watch the TV on the opposite side.
There is a small but useful kitchenette. Plug in a double hob for cooking.
There is kettle, small fridge, toaster and various other helpful items - we made a great stir fry! - I liked the fact there was a good sized sink so washing up wasn’t a chore.
Heating can be regulated for your comfort and comes through vents below the kitchen unit. There is a double bed in its own section with reading light and shelves. The owners really have thought of everything.
The shower room is a good size with a hot power shower, towels, full sink and toilet.
The BBQ hut costs just £10 for the special coals and would be a great spot for a warm and social evening feast.
The sauna can be reserved by putting the light on and setting it off. It only takes half an hour to prep. It has a lovely large window from which to enjoy the view (when not set to steam!)
Food and Drink:
Bring what you need with you so you can self cater, not forgetting the sausages and burgers for the BBQ hut!
Alternatively book a supermarket food delivery for once you have arrived for convenience.
Subject to availability you will receive some eggs from the free range rescue hens they have on site.
If you wish to eat out then the Downright Gabbler is a unique experience with themed meals in Beauly.
Jess' top tip:
We really enjoyed the tranquillity here and had a great walk through woodland before relaxing in the hot tub and trying out the sauna!
If you can tear yourself away then the village of Beauly is just a short 10 minute drive away and here you can visit the remains of the priory (mentioned in the Outlander series of books), explore the Wardlaw Museum of Art, Natural Science and History or explore the ancient woodlands of Reeling Glen.
The famous Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness is just a half hour drive away and is one of the most popular places to visit in the Highlands.
Whilst here why not enjoy a spot of wild swimming in the loch near Strone!
