Day 26 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to Riverbeds Luxury Hot Tub Lodges in Argyll and Bute.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
There are a row of pods by the river but the set up means that once you are in yours you are unaware of any others!
The fact you are raised above a lively river rushing by makes this a really special place.
Lovely to meet Katie whom we have worked with since summer 2022 and to hear they have adjusted their prices due to the current cost of living crisis to make this stay more accessible to people.
The Accommodation:
Located in the stunning Glencoe Valley and just 20 minutes in the car from majestic Ben Nevis, in the heart of Lochaber.
The pods are small in size but romantic in nature. Inside you have a panel to control the heating - we were lovely and warm.
There was a comfortable double bed with shelf and reading lamp under a large round window looking out to trees.
There is a small ensuite wet room plus a mini wardrobe and mirror and a kitchenette with microwave, small fridge and sink, so all you could need for a lovely getaway.
Outside on the terrace is your own private hot tub with views of the trees and mountains, with the sound of the river passing by in front of you.
There is so much beauty in the nature around you here and a little robin even popped by to say hello.
Food and Drink:
Some treats are left for you, and breakfast is delivered at 8.30 in the morning in a basket. Oats and yogurt, juice, bread, jam and pastries. Tea, a variety of coffee pods for the machine provided and milk.
The owners recommend various restaurants to book before you arrive. We went for the nearby Ballachulish Hotel which is a 10 minute stroll away and really enjoyed our seafood dinner there. Mussels from the loch!!
Other options recommended to us included The Holly Tree and The Laroch - both pubs, which are a 5 minute drive away.
Another choice for seafood is the Kinlochleven Seafood Cafe which comes highly recommended and is just a 15 minutes drive away.
Jess' top tip:
We really wanted to get out and explore this beautiful area so hired some e-bikes from the Riverbeds site and followed a great cycle path along the loch with mountain views.
After that we took the short drive to Glencoe Lochan where there are 3 different 45 minute walks you can enjoy. Both of them were great fun and a good way to explore the area!
There are lots of other options too, you can hire segways, play golf, visit Castle Stalker or Glen Etive - you certainly won't be lost for something to do here!
