Day 27 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to The Scriptorium Apartments in the Highlands.

Find out more about their visit:

Fort Augustus Abbey

First Impression:

This converted abbey is set in a prime location for cruising Loch Ness or the Caledonian Canal, or enjoying the Clubhouse facilities on site.

One of the apartments even has its own enclosed garden space if you want to eat alfresco.

Both apartments ooze the history of the place and offer a comfortable base to enjoy Highland, Scotland.

Grateful to Andreas whom we have worked with since 2011 for letting us visit these beautiful properties.

The Accommodation:

Set within the historic Fort Augustus Abbey, you enter the apartments on the ground floor to find the living space with kitchenette and bathroom.

From here you climb the staircase to a double bedroom with vaulted beamed ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows.

Choose the property with garden if you would like to enjoy your own outdoor space.

Whilst here you can explore the Clubhouse facilities, including the swimming pool with steam room and sauna, Club lounge with snooker table plus a range of other options including gym, giant chess and tennis court.

Food and Drink:

There is a kitchenette in the apartments so you can self cater.

In Fort Augustus you can find a small supermarket as well as a couple of restaurants if you wish to dine out.

Why not try The Boathouse restaurant on the shores of Loch Ness for a unique dining experience.

 Loch on Caledonian Canal

Jess' top tip:

I loved the historic part to this property and the Clubhouse facilities added a touch of luxury to the stay!

Whilst here there is plenty to do from a Loch Ness river cruise to watching the boats come through the lochs of the Caledonian Canal.
