Day 39 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to Suffolk Barns with Hot Tubs in Suffolk, England.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
A great getaway for couples - and their dogs. There is an enclosed meadow across the road for guests to walk their dogs.
Hot tub lovers will be happy here as each accommodation has it's own private hot tub with a wooden shelter above so any rain can’t spoilt your enjoyment. Granary Barn does not have a hot tub.
Carl, the owner, showed us around. We have worked alongside him promoting his romantic getaways since 2018.
The Accommodation:
Delightful choice of historic and modern cottages set near the market town of Stowmarket offer self catering stays for 2 with cosy living areas and well equipped kitchens.
All feature a double bedroom and shower room. Some of these bedrooms can be found on ground level so are suitable for all, whilst others have a mezzanine level bedroom.
Outside the properties you can relax in your fully enclosed garden area with private hot tub, the ideal place to chill out and reconnect with your loved one....and your canine companion.
Food and Drink:
You will be ensured the best start to your holiday with a jam packed welcome hamper including eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, bread, butter, milk, jam, marmalade, fresh fruit and cookies!
There are a few pubs within a 10 minute drive, but if taking a trip to Woodbridge then owner Carl recommends the Anchor, where you can enjoy a friendly welcome for you and your dog, with great home cooked food, ideally enjoyed after a walk along the River Deben.
Alternatively you can head into Ipswich where there are waterside bars and restaurants galore.
Jess' top tip:
It is always worth checking out what is happening nearby during your stay. We discovered that Haughley Park had a light spectacular in Alice in Wonderland theme and went along to that.
The trees and grand house were all lit up in multiple colours at night. It was beautiful to see.
Whilst here we also took a trip to Woodbridge and enjoyed a walk along the river as well as visiting Sutton Hoo, an area rich in archeology, where an entire Saxon ship was buried with treasure and king in a burial mound back in the 6th or 7th century and was discovered in 1938.
