Day 2 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to Len and Ted Shepherd's Huts in Somerset.

First Impression:

There is lots of space between the two huts (around 150 metres) so they offer plenty of privacy for a romantic getaway.

The huts are well insulated with wood burners and heating, so stay toasty warm even on the coldest of days and come with their own en-suite shower rooms for convenience.

There are well placed stepping stones to ensure you don't get muddy.

The Accommodation:

The huts are of a high quality with comfortable beds (with top of the range mattresses) across the width of the hut with views out across the fields. Each year the huts are updated to keep the high standard.

The ensuites and kitchenette areas are bijou in size but well thought out making the most of the space and offering all you need for a great holiday.

Set in a field behind the owner's home, they offer a private and relaxed space for both sets of guests.

Food and Drink:

Jess and Dom enjoyed a short drive to The George Inn in Croscombe for lunch. Less than 10 minutes away by car, it is a traditional pub with an open fire and home cooked food.

Dom said it was the best pie he has ever had - freshly made steak pie with traditional British vegetables and gravy. High praise indeed!

Jess' top tip:

Be sure to take a stroll to where Castle Maesbury Hill Fort stood for far reaching views on a clear day.
