Day 14 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a visit to The Oak Retreat in Powys.
Find out more about their visit:
First Impression:
Lovely cabin in its own area on a beautiful estate, set amongst oak trees and with the sound of the river rushing by below.
The Accommodation:
The interior has a luxurious bedroom area, a kitchenette (with hob but no oven) and sofa that can sleep children.
Outside you can relax on the furniture or warm yourself around the firepit and make the most of the south facing aspect.
To the side of the retreat is a sink and a separate shower and loo cabin with electric heaters. You can park alongside for convenience.
If you wish to bring friends, then you can request to be allowed to bring a tent or camper van to share this wonderful location for an extra fee.
The property is set on a vast estate of 400 acres of public parkland and you can walk along the river to the local town of Crickenhall.
You can also request to use the tennis court and seasonal pool on the estate, depending on whether there are events on.
Food and Drink:
This retreat is self catering so you can enjoy romantic nights in with your loved one...let's be honest you probably won't want to leave!
But if you can tear yourself away, there is a pub on site and the village of Crickhowell is a short drive away!
Jess' top tip:
Enjoy lots of walks around the site, the beauty of nature is incredible. History enthusiasts will love a trip to the fully restored medieval Tretower Court and Castle - well worth a visit!
