Day 19 of The Quirky Tour and Jess and Dom enjoyed a stay at The Swimming Pool Suite in Shropshire.

Find out more about their visit:

First Impression:

The sweeping drive, the huge Manor House, the wood carved reception with friendly welcome, the dramatic entrance hall with chandelier and sweeping staircase! All that before you get to your room!

The Accommodation:

I can recommend the Swimming Pool Suite for a special occasion. Where else in the UK can you take a swim in your private swimming pool before heading down to the bar for a drink or to the restaurant for dinner.  We really enjoyed our meal here!

After that head back to your suite and relax in the hot tub for a while before drifting off to sleep in the unique four poster bed.

In the morning we enjoyed a delicious complimentary breakfast with various cooked options before heading out for a stroll around the 165 acres of stunning grounds with large lake, where you can see geese and ducks - be sure to bring wellies for this during the wetter seasons.

The hotel is lovely, with very personable staff and lots of antique touches. I loved the entrance hall with chandelier and staircase and marvelled at how they keep this space warm. All these impressive features definitely add a touch of romance.

Food and Drink:

The hotel offers a delicious breakfast and great evening meals and you can enjoy a drink in the bar too, so you have everything you need here on site - ideal for a relaxing weekend away.

Alternatively take a short drive and head to the local village where you can enjoy a pint at the pub or find a rural pub deep within the Shropshire Hills.

Jess' top tip:

The hotel is just a 10 minute drive from the Shropshire Hill AONB, so this is a great location for those who love getting out into nature and enjoy a good hike.

Be sure to visit Caer Caradoc, above Church Stretton, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful of Shropshire’s Hills and where you can see the remains of an Iron Age hillfort at the peak.

This site is also just a 30 minute drive from Powis Castle. Unfortunately the castle itself was closed when we visited, but we really loved seeing the beautiful gardens - well worth a trip!
