Description
Retreat to the Dorset AONB near Beaminster and step back in time with a stay at this lovingly restored Victorian Train Carriage for 2 - 4 guests.
The carriage is reminiscent of the glory days of the steam railways and oozes history with its gleaming brass luggage racks, leather window straps and general styling. Add to this modern conveniences such as a well equipped kitchenette, electric shower, flushing loo and wifi and you truly have everything you need for the perfect rural staycation.
The carriage has a main living area with sofa that pulls out to be a comfy double bed and there is also a dining table where you can eat, read or plan your day. The carriage is kept cosy and warm by an original French Art Nouveau stove, plus a wall mounted electric heater for those extra chilly days. The kitchen comes complete with an oven/microwave plus 2 hob induction rings, a fridge and Belfast sink. A porthole is set in the perfect location so you can enjoy the rural views of the green fields whilst you cook. The bathroom has a traditional toilet and again offers wonderful views...so good you won't want to leave! Just next to the carriage is the Living van, this offers you an additional indoor space as either a large dining table or alternatively can be rearranged to offer 2 single beds for extra guests!
Whilst here why not book into the Dining Coach on site and enjoy a professionally cooked meal or Afternoon Tea. This coach has also been restored with love and even features a newspaper from 1896!
Locally you can enjoy fantastic walks along the Jurassic coastline before exploring one of the many nearby attractions such as Lyme Regis sandy beach / Charmouth for fossils / West Bay for fish and chips and boat rides or crabbing. There is a minimum 2 night stay with a minimum 3 night weekend from April - October and minimum 3 nights during school holidays. Reduced nightly rates for longer stays.
