Hostal Empuries is set in a privileged location, next to the ruins of the first Greek settlement on the Iberian Peninsula and facing one of the most beautiful and historic beaches on the entire Catalan coast. There are 55 rooms distributed between the Old and New Hostal.

The Old Hostal came to be at the beginning of the 20th century when it housed the first archaeologists who came to work at the ruins in Empúries. The 36 double and family rooms are simple and comfortable maintaining the vintage and romantic spirit of their origins. Half of these rooms have views of the sea from which you can hear the ocean and the other half look out on the organic vegetable garden which supplies the Hostal's kitchen.

The New Hostal has 19 large, modern rooms with the latest technology and sustainable materials. They have private terraces with views of the sea or garden and are the symbol of the new ecological era of the Hostal Empuries. A project based on the idea of improving the world in which we live and share so that future generations may also enjoy it.

Ecology, equilibrium and reflexion are the 3 concepts which define the kitchen of the Restaurante Portitxol on site. The best quality organic produce is used. It is also possible to eat informally at the Bistro de Mar with magnificent views of Portitxol Cove.

Facing the sea and surrounded by paines the Spa at Hostal Empuries invites you to care for your health and wellness usuing natural therapies designed specifically to help you reach a state of complete physical and mental well-being. Products are free from silicones, petroleum derivatives and made biodegradable ingredients based on algae, mud and salt.

The priority of Hostal Empuries is to be strictly respectful of the environment in accordance with the principles of the eco-philosophy Cradle to Cradle and is the first european hotel to be accredited with the LEED Gold Certification - making the hotel a Leader in Energy and Environmental Design. They also participate in development of communities in the Third World.
