Hidden in the lower wooded garden of a large Victorian house on the edge of Dartmoor is Humble Bee. This monumental building echos the form of a Bee Hive and welcomes couples to enjoy its indoor and outdoor charm - including the private exterior thermal hot tub bath seemingly built into the rockface. A 3 tiered building oozing shabby chic style combined with warm country comfort for romantic getaways.
Not quite a treehouse, but with the feel of one. Humble Bee is filled with surprises from its suspended packing case bed, 'floating' sofa, open mezzanine floors, rural chic kitchen and maybe most inspired of all its own private outdoor soaking 'trough' created from the stone face that forms the foundation of this unique structure. To add to the romance of this place 2 can soak together (within size limits).
Humble Bee oozes style warmth, privacy and comfort. Staying here will transport you back to childhood memories of dens, and camps in the woods with its packing case bed, its floating sofa in front of a warm glowing fire stacked with cushions, its flying walkways and its moss and fern exterior among the trees.
If you are able to drag yourself away from your hide away, just 10 minutes walk takes you to the edge of wide expanse of the Dartmoor National Park where you can see for miles, meet the sheep and ponies, get up to the tors and blow the cobwebs away. Or enjoy a walk from the property through stunning woodland and riverside and over a hill to a friendly pub.
Just next door you can order breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea at the historic Okehampton Railway Station. In the town a short stroll away there are 4 very different pubs, cafes, restaurants, antique and bric-a-brac stores and a small and cosy cinema.
This property can be reached by train and you don't have to have a vehicle for a stay here. Hire a bike locally for further adventures. There is a level granite cycle path which takes you all the way to Lydford George.
