Description

Introduction

Hut Therapy is a plant-based food B&B; with bespoke accommodation re-purposed from a disused Sussex barn. It is located in East Chiltington, near Lewes, in the beautiful countryside of the South Downs National Park, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a haven for walkers and cyclists. Guests can experience cooking a macrobiotic breakfast with the host, an accredited holistic cook and advisor, and learn about the principles of macrobiotics and holistic cooking. Or, simply enjoy excellent, natural plant-based breakfasts (included in the price) and optional evening meals - available either on half-board basis (please message host) or with notice at the accommodation (see below). Please message host if you would like an evening meal on arrival.

Description of Accommodation

Located in the corner of the owner's garden, 20m from the main house, the therapy hut accommodates 2 adults + 1 small child (on roll up futon on wood floor). It comprises a double cabin bed, en-suite shower/wc and a small seating/kitchen area. Constructed from the timbers of an old, de-commissioned Sussex barn, the emphasis inside the cabin is on natural materials. The cabin bed mattress is a cotton filled futon and there is a choice of wool filled & feather duvets with 100% cotton bedding. The accommodation is equipped with a fridge, kettle and toaster, together with plates, cutlery, mugs, glasses and kitchen utensils to prepare cold meals and picnics. There are complimentary herbal teas, ground grain coffee, non-dairy milk & natural sweetener. There is shared use of the garden.

Food & Experiences at Hut Therapy

Included in the price, is a healthy, plant-based whole food or macrobiotic quality breakfast cooked by the owner (who is on hand to answer questions) & served in the conservatory of the main house, garden or cabin. There is a choice of 2 or 3 course macrobiotic quality plant based evening meals priced at £16.50 or £21.50, respectively if taken optionally, and POA for half-board (2 course evening meals). Food is tailor-made for guests and for special diets, including animal-free, gluten-free, refined sugar free and low fat diets. The focus is on plant-based foods free from de-natured food products.

Hut Therapy is a good base for making the transition from vegetarian or flexitarian to a vegan diet and for furthering understanding of health and holistic principles. However, everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy the surrounding countryside and Hut Therapy’s delicious breakfasts and food. The owner embraces slow, mindful cooking, so if having one or a few meals during your stay, please let the host know at least 24 hours in advance so she can offer you a wide range of food options.

On request at breakfast, are also cow’s milk & butter, sheep and goat yoghurt; fish is an optional extra at meal times (£2 pp). Within walking distance too, are two excellent gastro pubs - The Jolly Sportsman, East Chiltington & Half Moon, Plumpton (both offering vegetarian & vegan options) & many more in the surrounding area.

Experience ginger compress - deeply relaxing and restorative during colder months, or shiatsu, aromatherapeutic & facial massage using Neal's Yard products given by visiting therapists - please book in advance of your stay.
