Description

Kanopi House is tropical jungle of vine-drenched, 100-foot Banyan trees; soaring chartreuse bamboo and flowering magenta ginger lily descending into a secluded, white sand cove. Here an elegant, earth conscious oasis of chic-ly appointed, ‘tree houses’ is linked by a winding pathway sliced through a sun dappled rainforest overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

A private shoreline that wraps around a blue lagoon, ringed by an untouched corral reef; purple manta rays gliding through clouds of colorful fish in a warm turquoise sea, glazed in a layer of cool from the mountain stream that flows into, and over, it.

Caring for the environment as well as the community, Kanopi House artwork and décor accents are designed and sourced locally.

Kanopi House offers six wood-frame, one and two bedroom, peak roof bungalows built in the island classic style. Wrapped in shuttered doors and windows, each opens almost entirely into the natural splendor of the jungle. Interiors are a blend of colonial and West Indian design, the atmosphere one of easy, island elegance. Accented in artwork and textiles by local artists, each graciously appointed tree-house is outfitted with a lounge that opens onto a sheltered veranda or ‘walls’ of French doors that open to allow the outside in; indoor and outdoor showers, and galley kitchen stocked with essentials. In lieu of television, rooms are equipped with Bose docks and iPods loaded with a stylish and international selection of music running Mozart to Morcheeba.

Meals are prepared with an emphasis on local, organic ingredients; greens and herbs are cultivated in Kanopi’s own mountain garden. Menus place the focus on traditional Jamaican dishes—callaloo, green bananas, ackee, breadfruit, yam, wild cocoa, sweet potato, grilled and curried seafood and meats. Tailored to suit any preference – vegan or vegetarian, meat lovers, low carb or with a special focus on local specialties – the menu is entirely guests’ choice. Indoor and outdoor dining is possible, and off site dining can also be arranged.

Weddings are possible. 2 night minimum stay except over Christmas and New Year where there is a minimum 3 night stay.. The price includes access to the world famous Blue Lagoon as well as use of kayaks and snorkelling equipment.
