Description
Kokopelli's Cave house is built into 65 million year old sandstone rock and is 280 feet above the La Planta River valley with views to 4 states Arizona, New Mexico, Utah & Colarado. You enter by the taking a path down the cliff - the cave is 70' below the surface. This one bedroom cave can sleep up to 8 people.
The manager will meet you and drive you in a 4x4 through several turns along a dirt track to the point where it is a short, but rugged walk to the cave. Also in the area you can visit Monument Valley, Aztec ruins, Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde & Four Corners Monument. From the cave and cliff top you have amazing views and the sunsets and sunrises are out of this world.
The cave was originally manmade to be an office for a local geologist. It later became a bed and breakfast. The cave is large (approx 1700q feet) and has a master bedroom, living area with sofa bed and futons, TV and DVD player, a replica Native American kiva, dining area, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom with waterfall shower and jacuzzi (hot tub). There are 2 porches, one off the main bedroom and the other off the main entrance. The temperature in the cave stays at between 68 & 73 degrees year round, so no need for air conditioning.
