Unique island cabin offers a relaxing retreat away from the busyness of life in Suffolk, just a half hour drive from Southwold. As the only glamping spot in the lake area, you get the lake to yourself for a truly romantic and relaxing getaway.

The island is situated on a two-acre lake on the edge of a wild-flower meadow on a family farm that features 400-year-old oak trees and is home to sheep and horses. The lake boasts a jetty and lakeside walk, ideal for those who want to take time to meander a while.

On arrival you can park up just outside the meadow, before walking up the winding meadow path to the little gate that leads you to the lakeside. Here you will enter your very own tranquil spot, free from electricity and running water. You will walk around the lake to the bridge, crossing to Little Island Retreat. The island looks out over the lake through its large windows and double glass doors. To the rear there is an ample decking area with rustic seating and a BBQ with ring hob and kettle. The views over the lake are stunning and offer a great place to rest a while.

Inside, a king size bed ensures a good night’s sleep, whilst the sink provides water for simple washing. A bean bag and footrest offer an extra comfy spot to sit and read or relax, and games ensure you have simple entertainment. Solar power provides lighting, with LED lanterns and candles to create a romantic atmosphere. Crockery, cutlery and basic cookware is provided along with a kettle that can be heated on the BBQ. A cool box helps keep basic provisions chilled.

An eco-toilet is situated right next to the cabin through a lockable stable door. A short walk away, next to your car, a shower and utility room is available for your exclusive use. The shower room has an electric shower, sink with hot running water and a flushable toilet. Towels and eco-friendly toiletries are complimentary. The utility room has a stainless-steel sink with hot running water, perfect for washing up your BBQ cookware. There is also a fridge to store food and drink, coat hooks, plug sockets and USB charging points so you can stay plugged in to the outside world (if you want to!).

Next to the shower and utility room the patio and wooden gazebo offer a quiet spot to sit and eat. There is a communal games room back at the farm yard which has a table tennis table, darts board, music stereo, sofas and hopefully a pool table soon. It also has electric / usb points.

Please note that the shower room and parking area are on a working farm so you will need to be vigilant of farm machinery. We have horses grazing on site in the meadow next to the lake and horse carers will tend to the equines each day. You may also have sheep grazing nearby, although next to your private lake and island there is a two-acre meadow separating you to ensure your privacy.

The market towns of Bungay, Harleston & Halesworth are all within 6 miles. Local pubs include The Rumburg Buck (2 miles), The Black Swan (3 Miles) and The Flixton Buck (3 miles). There is also St Peters Hall, a local brewery set in a 13th Century building , with a reasturant (Trios) just 2miles away. What better than a walk to a pub, a lovely meal and a cold beverage, then coming back to the island, for a siesta or to relax with a book.There are miles and miles of beaufiful country walks in the surrounding coutryside and the beautiful coastal town of Southwold is just 15 miles away. Here you can stroll by the beach taking in the colourful beach huts, award winning pier, busy harbour and enjoy a movie at the unique electric picture palace.
