Description

A beautifully renovated windmill tower in the picturesque South Hams countryside in Devon, just four miles inland from the beaches at Torbay, offers unique, peaceful and secluded accommodation for 2. Set in its own five-acre field with no near neighbours, it's a romantic hideaway or explorer's base, the perfect place for a get-away-from-it-all holiday. Within reach are sleepy moorland villages, bustling seaside towns, secluded beaches, boat trips, steam railways and historic castles.

On the ground floor is the main living space with excellent cooking facilities and comfy leather sofa. Curved stairs lead up to the first floor which has a double bedroom with a Victorian bed, double-sprung mattress and goose-down duvet, and lovely views to Dartmoor. The second floor has a large bathroom with oval bath and shower over, again with beautiful views. Right at the top is the 'Miller's Eye', a room with two comfortable chairs and TV. It is reached by a space-saver staircase and has splendid panoramic views of the South Hams hills, Dartmoor and Torbay. Borrow the binoculars to watch ponies pass in the lane, look a buzzard in the eye, or take in 400 square miles of countryside and wildlife.

Outside is a grassed area with seating and a millstone table, from which there are spectacular views over the hills and farmland towards Dartmoor on the skyline, and beautiful sunsets when the weather is favourable. There is a car parking area close to the mill. Sometimes it is possible to add a tent. There are good pubs within a mile or so.

Please note that the mill is ideal for an adult couple, with potential for one or two children aged from 6-17 (for which bedding is required). Children would sleep on chair beds in the top room, reached by steep steps. Request 1 z-bed for the lounge / ground floor if you have 1 child over 6 you don't want in the top room. Bring a travel cot for an infant if required. Babies stay for free. There is a small fee of £12 per night for other children.

Sorry NO PETS, no smoking.

FAQs

Can I bring my children?

Add up to 2 children between 6-17 within your request. They will sleep on the top floor on chair beds (steep stairs) but please bring bedding for them. Let us know if you want just one child on a z-bed instead on the ground floor. If you wish to bring a baby then please bring your own travel cot for in the parent's bedroom and there is no charge for that.
