Nene Valley Boats

Nene Valley Boats is located near the market town of Oundle, Northamptonshire. Onboard Sammy, you can explore the river between Northampton and Peterborough winding your way through the timeless English countryside. The boat sleeps, 2-6 guests with discounts available for two people.

Climb aboard this semi-traditional steel narrowboat and admire the modernity of the interior. With electricity, central heating, digital TV/DVD player, DAB radio and CD player there is everything you could need and more. When it comes to resting your head there is a double bed and bunk beds with a dining area that converts to a further double bed. The galley benefits from a full kitchen with full sized gas oven and hob plus fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a flushing toilet and shower cubicle.

The River Nene meanders for about 100 miles via 38 locks through the counties of Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, bordering on Norfolk and ending its journey at the Wash. The Nene Valley is a haven for rare water and wetland birds and numerous species of dragonfly and damselfly. If you have an interest in history, there is plenty of it. The Bronze Age village at Flag Fen; the remains of the castle at Fotheringhay, birthplace of Richard III and execution site of Mary, Queen of Scots; the fine Cathedral at Peterborough which is the burial place of Katherine of Aragon the first wife of Henry VIII, plus many other sites of heritage and historical interest.

Up to 2 dogs accepted onboard at a cost of £20 per dog. There is a 3-night minimum stay with Monday and Friday changeover days. The narrowboat can be hired for short breaks, weeks or longer trips. Book a 4-night mid-week trip or 3 night weekend one with prices from £765-£860. As part of the boat handover you will be shown how to steer and stop the boat and how to get through the locks!
