Description
CLOSED DURING WINTER - EARLY NOVEMBER to MARCH/EASTER.
Set on a beautiful nature reserve in rural Suffolk, Secret Meadows takes glamping to new heights with award-winning accommodation, green-themed activities and special packages. Organic towels, complimentary hand-made soaps, and a welcome tea tray are provided, and beds are ready-made for your arrival. An onsite pantry shop is full of locally-sourced quality produce and wildlife themed gifts and there is an excellent pub within walking distance by a public footpath. Guided by an environmental ethos and owned by a wildlife charity, profits go to nature conservation.
The site includes 6 Luxury Lodge Tents (safari style tents) each of which sleeps up to 6. One of these has a private hot tub and another has electric and wifi, so take your pick! Each tent is in an individual wooded glade, overlooking surrounding meadows so they each have a private feel, working well for individual families or couples as well as groups. Tents include a 4 poster bed, double cupboard bed and bunk bed, fully equipped kitchen, wood-burning range cooker/stove, sofa, private loo and shower. Outside your tent you can relax in the hammock or sit back on one of 2 deck chairs. Enjoy dining al fresco with the picnic table, BBQ and firebowl.
The Two Storey Luxury Safari Tent is similar to the Luxury Lodge Tents but has a bit more wow factor and sleeps 8 guests! This tent is nestled among trees overlooking a meadow so it has a lovely private feel just like the other safari tents. Spacious, stylishly furnished and with all creature comforts considered. There’s also electricity but candles and oil lanterns are still provided. A fully equipped kitchen has hot running water, gas cooker, oven and fridge. There’s a wood-burning stove, sofas, large dining table and chairs and two private loos and showers. Downstairs there is a double bed hidden in a cupboard and a double four-poster bedroom. Up the wooden staircase, there are two cosy bedrooms overlooking the trees, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. Outside you can enjoy a siesta in the hammock, throw a few sausages on the BBQ or toast some marshmallows on the firebowl!
A luxury gypsy caravan and shepherd's hut make up Gypsy’s Rest, which sleeps up to 4 with a double bed in each unit. Gypsy's Rest provides stylish glamping accommodation in a secluded area of meadow with woodland either side. A Reading-style gypsy caravan is accompanied by a large shepherd’s hut to provide a fully equipped kitchen area (including hot running water and wood-burning range) and an extra sleeping and living space. The interiors of both units have been lovingly furnished in vintage-style. A private loo and shower building is easily accessible at the back of the shepherd's hut. Enjoy dining al fresco making use of the BBQ and picnic table.
If you are looking for a bit of magic and adventure while luxury camping then look no further than the Horsebox Hideaway which sleeps 4. This special glamping accommodation is a recycled horsebox truck. The main living space includes a fully equipped kitchen (including hot running water) and a rustic dining table and chairs, sofa and little wood burner. A bedroom at the back of Horsebox Hideaway has a built-in double bunk bed, storage space and a door which leads to a private loo and shower building. Little round windows overlook a wildflower meadow with a background of ancient woodland. This accommodation is in its own meadow so it makes a lovely romantic escape as well as a fun base for adults with young children. Light the fire bowl and lay back and relax in the hammock or deck chairs!
For days out, Secret Meadows is near to the riverside market town of Woodbridge and close to Framlingham with its 12th-century castle. The nature reserve is at the edge of The Suffolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where there are excellent coastal towns and villages including Aldeburgh, Walberswick and Southwold. Local attractions include Thorpeness Meare, Jimmy’s Farm, Easton Farm Park, Minsmere and Orford Castle.
