Description

The shepherd's hut sleeps two adults and one child over 5, and is situated remotely within its own woodland in a 5-acre field. It offers a unique experience to really get away from it all, the perfect romantic retreat. The whole experience of staying here is enhanced if you choose to take a soak in the woodburning hot tub! The minimum stay is 2 nights.

Your only visitors will be the wildlife in the area including deer, rabbits, pheasants, squirrels, weasels, bats, red kites, buzzards, curlew and lapwings. You may be greeted when you enter and leave the site by the very inquisitive alpacas.

The shepherds hut is off-grid. It is insulated with sheep's wool and has double glazing so can be used all year round. A wood-burning stove provides heat and can boil a kettle or be cooked upon. Logs for the wood-burning stove are provided.

The double bed has a proper fully sprung mattress topped with an alpaca duvet (the fleece provided by their own alpacas) and pillows with luxurious cotton bedding. There is a single top bunk suitably sized for a child over 5 years. A good nights sleep is imperative for a truly relaxing holiday.

The loo and basin are nearby and you can experience the wonderful freedom of an outdoor shower. Towels are provided.

There is a fire pit adjacent to the hut, a BBQ and seating area. All cooking equipment is provided.

A cool box with ice blocks, BBQ and 2 ring camping gas stove, plus hot plate on woodburner when on, means that Shepherd's Delight can be used as a self-catering property.

A session in the hot tub is an additional £20. Allow time for it to heat and keep stoking the fire - a great way to relax in the evening.

We accept one dog at an additional charge of £10 per night. The dog must be kept on a leash at all times as we have livestock in the field.

Equidistant between Ripon to the north and Harrogate to the south there are many wonderful attractions nearby. There is a regular bus that serves the village which runs from Ripon to Leeds via Harrogate. If you're really keeping your carbon footprint down you can even get to the hamlet by bus. Come and enjoy the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire with the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors both close by, where you can enjoy many beautiful walks. Alternatively take a stroll to a choice of country pubs from the hut for a lazy lunch.

How long to walk to the pub or do I have to drive?

Walkable - only 6-7 mins through the village.

Which pub do you recommend to eat at.

There are some great local pubs which do good food, however we'd have to recommend our local village pub as a first option - The Inn @ South Stainley

Yes. No immediate neighbours to upset. The alpacas won't mind.

No fridge as we are off grid but I provide ice blocks and a cold box. Replacement blocks can be provided.
