Nestled under an ancient oak tree in a private spot at the top of a gently sloping meadow with glorious panoramic countryside views, Shepherd’s Oak offers an idyllic rural retreat. Inside, all that you could need for a comfortable stay is on-hand, including a warming wood-burner, spacious en suite shower-room, kitchen area (with electric hob, fridge and toaster), TV for cosy nights in and a comfortable double bed with plenty of storage under and above it.

Outside, there’s a large deck in front of the hut – with a hot tub, picnic table, chiminea and barbecue – the perfect place for chilling out al fresco, as well as a second deck facing to the west, with more gorgeous countryside views and enjoying stunning sunsets. Part of the meadow is enclosed, ideal for four-legged friends, and a lane leads to woodland at the bottom of a valley and further fields that you are welcome to explore – you may even meet the friendly Alpacas and their super-cute summer babies (please keep Rover on a lead around them).

Shepherd’s Oak truly offers the best of both worlds, a tranquil rural setting yet just ten minutes from the charming Cathedral City of Exeter – well worth a visit indeed. The unspoilt east Devon coast is within easy reach too, with its traditional seaside towns and dramatic Jurassic cliffs. Or why not explore the local area by bike – head to the Exe Valley or National Trust’s Killerton House.
